Short answer: Choose Omnisend if you want the essential e-commerce automations, email + SMS + web push in one place, and 24/7 support at a lower monthly cost. Choose Klaviyo if you’re a growing brand that will use advanced segmentation and reporting and can absorb a higher bill as your list grows.

Both are mature, both are rated 4.7/5 on the Shopify App Store with more than 3,000 reviews each, and both can run a store’s core flows well. The real differences are price, how billing works, support and how deep you need to go.

Pricing: Omnisend is cheaper at most list sizes

At every tier we could verify, Omnisend’s Standard plan costs less than Klaviyo’s Email plan, with the gap ranging from about $4 a month at 500 contacts to roughly $20 a month at 5,000. Both charge for text messages per send on top of the plan; Omnisend’s published US rates start slightly lower ($0.009 falling to $0.007 by volume, versus Klaviyo’s $0.01 plus carrier fees).

Billing also works differently. Klaviyo bills on active profiles – everyone you can reach – so a large but quiet list still costs money. See our Klaviyo pricing guide for how that plays out.

Features: Klaviyo goes deeper, Omnisend covers the essentials

Both tools offer the automations most stores need: welcome series, abandoned cart, browse abandonment and post-purchase flows, plus segmentation on order data and sign-up forms.

Klaviyo’s edge is depth. It’s built around detailed customer data, with granular segmentation and reporting that bigger brands and their agencies rely on, plus SMS, WhatsApp and AI campaign tools.

Omnisend’s edge is breadth for the price. Email, SMS and web push sit in one workflow builder, the free plan includes all core features (with Omnisend branding), and the Pro plan adds a product recommender, dynamic content and send-time personalization.

Support

Omnisend offers 24/7 live chat and email support on every plan, including free. Klaviyo’s free plan includes email support only for the first 60 days. If you’re running the store yourself and want quick help, this matters more than it sounds.

Which should you choose?

Pick Omnisend if:

  • You have under ~10,000 subscribers and want to keep costs predictable.
  • You want email, SMS and web push without a separate SMS plan.
  • You value round-the-clock chat support.

Pick Klaviyo if:

  • You’re scaling fast and will use advanced segmentation and reporting.
  • You work with an agency that already runs Klaviyo.
  • Your margins can absorb a bill that rises with list size.

FAQ

Can I move from Klaviyo to Omnisend? Yes. You’ll need to export your opted-in subscribers and rebuild your flows. Omnisend’s Custom plan includes free migration; on other plans you’ll set things up yourself or with support.

Which is better for SMS? For occasional SMS, Omnisend’s pay-as-you-go credits are simpler. For heavy, two-way SMS programs, compare both vendors’ per-message rates (and Klaviyo’s carrier fees) for your expected volume and countries.
